On June 10, 2004, KISS kicked off the U.S. leg of their “Rock The Nation” Tour in San Antonio, Texas. This tour marked a significant chapter in the band’s history for a few reasons:
- It was one of their first major tours after the “Farewell Tour” in 2000-2001, which had originally been promoted as their final tour.
- The lineup featured Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, Tommy Thayer (on lead guitar, replacing Ace Frehley), and Eric Singer (on drums, replacing Peter Criss), solidifying a newer incarnation of the band.
- The setlist included some fan-favorite deep cuts that hadn’t been played live in years, making it a treat for longtime fans.
The tour ran across 42 cities in the U.S. and was part of a broader campaign to show that KISS was still very much active despite earlier farewell talk. They also released the “Rock the Nation Live!” DVD in 2005, featuring performances from this tour.
