Slovenia’s pioneering all-female heavy metal band HELLCATS have returned with a thunderous new statement, unveiling the official music video for their latest single, “Black Thunder.” Packed with blistering guitar riffs, soaring vocals, and an empowering message of resilience, the track marks another major milestone for one of Europe’s most enduring female-fronted metal acts.

“Black Thunder” is the second single from the band’s forthcoming album and showcases HELLCATS at their heaviest and most confident. Staying true to their classic heavy metal roots while embracing a modern edge, the song delivers a powerful anthem built around determination, strength, and perseverance.
The single was penned by sisters Sasha Zagorc (bass) and Sonja Zagorc (drums), the band’s founding members and principal songwriters. Production duties were handled by acclaimed Slovenian producer Dejan Radičević, whose polished yet hard-hitting approach amplifies the band’s trademark sound.
Accompanying the release is a visually striking music video directed by Perica Rai, bringing the intensity of “Black Thunder” to life through dramatic imagery and high-octane performance footage. The video reinforces the song’s central message, never giving up in the face of adversity, and highlights the band’s commanding stage presence.
The track made its live debut at the iconic 100 Club on London’s Oxford Street, where HELLCATS shared the stage with Blondie drummer Clem Burke. The performance introduced British audiences to the band’s latest material and further cemented their growing international reputation.
Formed in Slovenia, HELLCATS are widely recognized as one of Europe’s first all-female heavy metal bands and remain the country’s only all-female act dedicated to traditional heavy metal. Since emerging with their self-titled EP in 2010, they have steadily built a loyal following through acclaimed releases including Divja Pot (2013) and Warrior Princess (2014), as well as relentless touring across Europe.
The band’s current lineup—featuring vocalist Sara Simeunović and guitarist Mia Marinič alongside founding sisters Sasha and Sonja Zagorc—has ushered in a fresh creative chapter. Their renewed chemistry has been praised by fans and critics alike, with standout performances at prestigious venues such as the O2 Academy Islington helping expand their international fanbase.
Over the years, HELLCATS have performed in countries including Germany, Italy, Austria, Finland, Croatia, and Russia, earning recognition for their energetic live shows and unwavering dedication to classic heavy metal.
With “Black Thunder,” HELLCATS continue to prove that they are far more than pioneers, they are a band still pushing forward with purpose, passion, and uncompromising power. As anticipation builds for their upcoming album, the new single stands as a bold reminder that the Slovenian quartet remains a formidable force on the European metal scene, delivering music that is as fierce as it is inspiring.
