According to report by Tribune News on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has shared what he described as a divine message concerning the schoolchildren and teachers abducted in Oyo State, saying he believes their eventual release will be “dramatic.”
The cleric made the disclosure while speaking at the US-Nigeria Faith Heroes Award Gala held in Washington, D.C., in a video that has since circulated widely on social media.
The victims were kidnapped on May 15 from three schools in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.
During their captivity, the abductors reportedly killed a mathematics teacher, Michael Oyedokun, and later released a video showing the incident, sparking widespread outrage and concern across the country.
Adeboye said the tragic development deeply affected him and prompted him to intensify prayers and fasting for the safe return of the captives.
According to him, the criticism directed at Christian leaders over the effectiveness of prayer also motivated him to seek divine intervention.
He explained that some people questioned the value of prayers, asking where God was despite continuous fasting and intercession for the abducted victims.
Disturbed by the remarks, he said he turned to God in prayer, asking for a response that would demonstrate His power.
According to Adeboye, God assured him that the release of the abducted children would be dramatic. However, he noted that no specific timeline or details were revealed regarding how or when the victims would regain their freedom.
The RCCG leader further stated that God also spoke to him about those allegedly sponsoring terrorism and kidnapping in Nigeria, although he did not provide further details about the message.
Adeboye also recalled a previous meeting with President Bola Tinubu in 2024, during which he urged the President to strengthen efforts against terrorism and kidnapping across the country.
According to him, the President later met with him and subsequently directed security agencies to intensify operations against criminal groups.
The respected cleric expressed confidence that God remains in control despite the country’s security challenges.
He encouraged Nigerians to remain steadfast in prayer and hope while trusting that ongoing efforts by security agencies and divine intervention would eventually lead to the safe return of the abducted victims.
