Guns N’ Roses fans have fresh reason to celebrate as legendary guitarist Slash has confirmed that the band’s next album will feature entirely new original material, not leftover demos or reworked songs from the past.
In a recent interview, the iconic six-stringer opened up about the group’s creative direction and made it clear that the upcoming record represents a true new chapter for the hard-rock giants.
“The next record that we’re gonna do is gonna be all new original stuff,” Slash revealed. “It’s not gonna be stuff that we sort of cherry-picked from the old vault.”
A Clean Creative Slate
Since Slash and bassist Duff McKagan rejoined Guns N’ Roses in 2016, the band has released several standalone singles, including “Hard Skool,” “Absurd,” and “Perhaps”, many of which were rooted in ideas dating back to the Chinese Democracy era.
While those tracks were well received by longtime fans, Slash says the band is now moving forward without looking backward.
This time, the writing process is centered on brand-new riffs, fresh lyrics, and new energy, shaped by the current chemistry between Slash, Axl Rose, Duff McKagan, and the rest of the touring lineup.
Writing On The Road
According to Slash, much of the inspiration has come from being back on the road together after years of massive global touring.
“We’ve been playing together for a long time now, so there’s a real vibe and connection,” he explained. “That translates naturally into new music.”
The guitarist noted that ideas have been steadily developing behind the scenes, with band members contributing material organically rather than forcing sessions.

One of the most encouraging aspects for fans is Slash’s confirmation that Axl Rose is deeply involved in the new writing process.
The singer’s renewed enthusiasm has been evident throughout recent tours, and Slash hinted that Axl’s creativity remains as sharp and unpredictable as ever, a crucial element in the band’s classic sound.

Still, Slash’s confidence speaks volumes.
“It’s exciting,” he said. “It feels like we’re doing something that’s really its own thing, not revisiting the past, but pushing forward.”
