The Georgia Bulldogs baseball team has emerged as a formidable contender in the 2025 NCAA Division I Baseball Tournament, securing multiple top-eight national seed projections. This marks a significant achievement for the program, which is striving for its first College World Series appearance since 2008.
With a commendable 42–14 overall record and an 18–12 mark in Southeastern Conference (SEC) play, Georgia has demonstrated consistency and resilience throughout the season. The Bulldogs’ impressive performance has earned them the No. 1 spot in the NCAA’s Ratings Percentage Index (RPI), underscoring their strength of schedule and quality wins.
Prominent baseball publications have taken note of Georgia’s success. Baseball America projects the Bulldogs as the No. 4 national seed, envisioning them hosting a regional in Athens that includes teams like Miami, Stetson, and Wright State . Similarly, D1Baseball places Georgia at No. 6, with a projected regional featuring Georgia Tech, Stetson, and Rhode Island.
Securing a top-eight seed is pivotal, as it would allow Georgia to host both the regional and super regional rounds at Foley Field. The Bulldogs have been formidable at home, boasting a 29–4 record this season, including a 7–2 tally against top-25 opponents.
Head coach Wes Johnson and his team are focused on maintaining their momentum as they enter the SEC Tournament. Georgia is set to face either No. 12 seed Oklahoma or No. 13 seed Kentucky in their opening game. The Bulldogs have previously secured series victories against both potential opponents, bolstering their confidence heading into the postseason.
The NCAA Tournament selection show is scheduled for May 26 on ESPN2, where Georgia’s national seed will be officially announced. A top-eight seed would not only reflect the Bulldogs’ stellar season but also position them advantageously for a deep postseason run.
As Georgia aims to return to Omaha for the first time in 17 years, the team’s blend of talent, strategic coaching, and home-field advantage could prove instrumental in achieving their College World Series aspirations.
